Ottawa, October 28, 2024 – Full-time professors and librarians at the University of Ottawa, joined by students and other campus workers, will be rallying on Wednesday, October 30 at noon to demand that the University’s central administration seriously negotiate on key priorities such as protecting high quality education and research, democratizing decision-making and addressing increased workloads.
Full-time professors and librarians, represented by the Association of Professors of the University of Ottawa (APUO), have been in collective bargaining since June 12, 2024. Despite negotiating for over 5 months, the central administration has continued to refuse to consider key proposals submitted by the union.
As their Negotiation Team prepares to head into conciliation on November 5 and 6, full-time professors, librarians and their allies will rally to send a clear message to uOttawa’s decision-makers: the campus community will no longer accept to do more with less.
Date: Wednesday, October 30
Time: 12 p.m.
Location: Tabaret Lawn, 550 Cumberland Street, Ottawa
Note for media
Two members of the APUO Executive Committee and Negotiation Team will be available to media for comment after the event.
